2012 Rome, Italy

We just got back from a fabulous trip to Rome.  While we wanted to go off-season to avoid the extreme heat and large crowds of tourists (not to mention hoards of pick-pockets), we had know idea it would snow just before we got there.  We're told that it was the most snow at once in 26 years.  The city literally shut down the morning we arrived.  Our airport transfer cancelled and the trains were not running.  Fortunately, we found another shuttle and were on our way.  Despite the cold weather, we were able to see all of the sites (there were no lines) and we had our scheduled audience with the Pope with no problems (we are blessed.....literally).

  1. I'm glad to see you started a blog. It will be fun to keep up with your adventures. That's too bad it snowed! Brendan and I went a few years ago for New Years, and the weather was so nice there. That's good you were able to see all of the sites still. How long were you there?
